How to measure
Measure over dancewear, not over street clothes. Keep the tape snug but not tight.
GIRTH
Measure the circumference taken from a point on the right shoulder, midway between the neck base, up over the prominence of the right bust apex, between the legs, and back to the starting point from behind.
BUST / CHEST
Measure the horizontal circumference around the body, taken under the arms and across the fullest part of the bust apex, including the lower portion of the shoulder blades.
WAIST
Measure the minimum horizontal circumference around the body at waist height (smallest point).
HIP / SEAT
Measure the maximum horizontal circumference around the body at hip height (fullest point).
If one number decides the size, it is girth. A costume can sit right on the chest and waist and still pull at the shoulders or ride up between the legs. When girth and chest point to different sizes, follow girth.

When the numbers disagree
It happens on nearly every roster. Here is how we would call it.
Girth outranks everything. If girth says MC and chest says SC, order MC. A costume that is tight through the girth cannot be worn at all; one that is loose across the chest can be taken in.
Size up for growing dancers. Costumes are ordered months before the recital. For dancers in a growth spurt, take the larger size — you are fitting the body in May, not the body today.
Match the group, not the dancer. For a line that has to look uniform on stage, order to the same fit logic across the whole group so hemlines land at the same height.
Still unsure? Exchange it. Size exchanges carry no handling fee, within the current season and subject to availability.
